Premium Service / UPgrade Points:
What is the UPside Premium Service?
The UPside Premium Service is our elite cardholder plan for cardholders who have 15,000 or more qualifying UPgrade points. You do not need to sign-up for Premium Membership, you receive it automatically when you have earned the requisite UPgrade points. With your Premium Membership you will enjoy the following benefits:
- Monthly fee is waived (reg. $4.95)
- One free online check per month
- Larger amounts for online checks
- Free customer service phone inquiries
- 1 cash back point for every $4 spent (signature-based purchases only)
- Special invites to friends for a four-month trial of the Premium Service
You need 15,000 UPgrade points to become a Premium Member. You can earn UPgrade points by loading your UPside card. See the UPgrade points summary below:
- Direct Deposit = 2000 UPgrade points per load (over $200) + 1 UPgrade point per $1
- MoneyPak = 1 UPgrade point per $1
- Credit/Debit Card = 1 UPgrade points per $1
How long do I keep my Premium status?
You are a Premium Member for the remainder of the calendar year plus the following calendar year. For example, if you became a Premium Member in August 2012, you will remain a Premium Member for the rest of 2012 as well as 2013. You will start earning UPgrade points again beginning on January 1 of your second year in Premium status (i.e. January 1, 2013). If you earn enough points in your second year you will remain Premium through 2014. If you do not earn enough UPgrade points in your second year, you will return to Classic status in January of the following year (2014).
Please note that no matter what membership status your account is in, points accrued for the current year will expire on December 31st.
How do I invite friends to get an UPside card with Premium status?
Inviting friends is easy. Simply email them from your online card account from the "Invite Friends" window. Your friend will receive a unique enrollment code that they can enter either on the www.upsidecard.com splash page or from the invite link received in the email. Once your friend has enrolled for an UPside card, their four-month trial period begins. You will receive $20 once your friend has loaded $200 or more. Friends will need to accrue 15,000 UPgrade points to keep Premium status after the four-month trial is over.
